Edward Judie, Jr. has been in education for more than 10 years and joins the District from the Clover Park School District where he was most recently the Director of Student Services. He also served as an assistant principal and teacher. Mr. Judie is a retired U.S. Army Command Sergeant Major who served 26 years in combat arm units, including 15 years in Special Operations with the U.S. Army Rangers.
The Deputy Superintendent of Student Affairs assumes responsibility for the management, monitoring, and articulation, of designated instructional educational programs, including the Office of Guidance, Attendance, Health Services, and Social Workers II. Mr. Judie works closely with the Welcome Center to act as an advocate for students and their parents; sets policy, organization, and duties of departmental staff by assisting with the redesign of the school social work, guidance, and psychological services departments; makes recommendations for support staff curriculum and program development and implementation; and works closely with administrators to address discipline problems at the school.
"I am very excited to work with Dr. Dallemand and the Bibb County School District to provide the best learning opportunity for all children," Mr. Judie says. "It is my goal to assist the Superintendent in closing the opportunity gap, direct resources to those with the greatest needs, and implement strategies to accelerate learning for all students. Finally, I will emphasize the need to develop and implement systems of support to keep our children in school and have them ready to learn."
Mr. Judie earned his Bachelor of Science from Regent College in Albany, N.Y., his Master's degree in Education from Troy State University of Alabama, his teaching certificate from Saint Martin's University, and his Superintendent Certificate from City University of Seattle. He also served as an adviser to the Washington State Board of Education and to the Washington State Professional Standard Board for Recruiting Teachers of Color.
Mr. Judie is a member of the American School Counselor Association, Phi Delta Kappa, National Alliance of Black Educators, the National Association of Elementary and Secondary Principals. He is pursuing a Doctorate in Educational Leadership with City University of Seattle.
