From the Desk of the Principal

Greetings and WELCOME to Brookdale Elementary School! My name is Dr. Nadine McQueen Campbell and I am happy to serve as principal and learning leader for the 2012-2013 academic school year. It is with great enthusiasm that I continue this journey to serve a community of exceptional students, faculty, and parents as we continue to strive for preparing all students to be college ready with a strong sense of character.

As we welcome you to a new year, many of you have already seen results of a year-long renovation process. We are PROUD of our new building and all of the possibilities it holds for us. Brookdale is now home to a refurbished building that embodies a great place for learning. As a sign of support and appreciation for our new facilities, we need your partnership as parents and guardians to remind our Brookdale Panthers of the importance of taking ownership and pride in our surroundings. Respecting self and others is a key target for all, both young and old.

Brookdale’s mission and vision mirrors the direction of our school district. Our vision is that each student demonstrates strength of character and is college ready, and we propose to accomplish this through a collective vision that states we will develop a highly trained staff and engaged community dedicated to educating each student for a 21st Centry multi-ethnic, global community.

The wise saying, ‘It takes a village to raise a child’ is imperative as we look ahead. The success of each PROUD Brookdale Panther is possible only with a strong partnership between home and school. As principal and learning leader of this fine, fine school, I encourage and welcome your support as parents, grandparents, and caregivers to help make this school year positive, rewarding, and our best one yet. Parental engagement in a child’s education is one of the strongest indicators of student achievement. We hope you will make it a priority this year to support your child and the Brookdale Family.

Once again, welcome to the 2012-2013 academic school year at our fine, fine school. As I write this I am reminded of the words of Mahatma Gandhi: You must be thechange you want to see in the world." Let us commit to joining forces to make this a year of making it possible for ALL students to achieve their own personal greatness.

Should you require a conference, please notify the office at (478)779-2800.

Warm regards,

Nadine McQueen Campbell, Ed.D.
