Greetings:

It is indeed an honor to serve as the new principal of Ballard-Hudson Middle School.  First, I would like to welcome students and families to the 2010-2011 school year.  We are very excited that you are returning or joining us for the first time.  We continue to work toward excellence in student and staff performance, with the understanding that excellence is not a final destination or a single achievement.  Rather, it is an ongoing commitment from all stakeholders; students, teachers, families, administrators and community members.

In addition to working in Corporate America for ten years, I have been in the education profession for eleven years.  During this time, I have served as classroom teacher and assistant principal at both McEvoy and Ballard-Hudson Middle Schools.

I received a Bachelors of Science in Computer Information Systems and a Masters degree in Middle Grades Education from the Fort Valley State University.  I continued my graduate studies at Georgia College & State University where I earned an Educational Leadership add-on to my certificate.  Further, I completed Troy State University in Alabama where I earned my Education Specialist degree in Administration and Supervision.  Presently, I am pursuing a Doctoral degree in Educational Administration at Georgia Southern University.

I am passionate about the safety and academic success of all students.  Further, I am committed to the mission of Ballard-Hudson Middle School… “to provide students with a high quality and rigorous education in a safe and 21st century school environment using all possible resources in preparing them for graduation and post-secondary success.”

With the team of dedicated, caring and knowledgeable staff, we are committed to providing the best education possible for your child.  Please know that we encourage you to be an active participant in this quest as we "Rise from Good to Great."

To discuss your child’s safety and academic concerns, please feel free to contact me at klanier.ballard@bibb.k12.ga.us or 478-779-3400.

Sincerely,

Kenneth T. Lanier
