Donna Jackson Donna Jackson has been an educator in the Bibb County School District for nearly 20 years. She began her teaching career at Sonny Carter Elementary. After several years of successful teaching she received her first administrative appointment as principal of Burghard Elementary, where she served for two years. After leaving Burghard she went on to Porter Elementary where she served for two years as assistant principal and principal for five years. She recently completed her fifth term as principal at Heritage Elementary.
 
As a leader she has worked diligently with the school community to create an enriching environment for all students. This is something she strongly embraces as part of her educational philosophy.
 
"I am extremely excited about the opportunity to serve the students, principals, and school communities of Bibb County in this new capacity as Associate Superintendent of Zone 1. I will work with all stakeholders as we work to build strength of character and ensure that our students are college ready."
 
Jackson earned a bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education at Wesleyan College, and both master's and specialist degrees in Educational Leadership at Georgia College and State University. She is a member of the Professional Association of Georgia Educators (PAGE), was a participant at the Georgia Leadership for School Improvement (GLISI) in Atlanta, and volunteers with the Girls Scouts of America.
 
Jackson's dedication to education and leadership for students, faculty and staff has not gone unrecognized. Among her numerous accolades, most notable is being chosen Teacher of the Year at Sonny Carter Elementary in 1996, and a top three finalist for Bibb County Teacher of the Year in 1996, a Georgia Georgia Leadership for School Improvement (GLISI) Celebrity in 2004-2005, being honored as Georgia's Principal of the Year for Visiting International Faculty (VIF) in 2006-2007, and most recently receiving the Georgia Learning Resource System (GLRS) Special Education Impact Award in 2012.
 
Jackson resides in Macon with her husband and two children, who attend Bibb County schools. She relishes the time she spends with them traveling as well as attending church, baseball and softball games, school functions and other family-oriented events.
