4-8-16   As you are discovering and changing your perception of mathematics, remember Learning mathematics takes patience over time. It often occurs more in a spiral than a straight progression one topic after another.

3-10-16  Never believe there is only "one way" to set up a math problem to solve. As the cliche' states, "There is more than one way to skin the cat!"

3-2-16  Poor Study Skills can lead to "going blank" and anxiety in math. Try studying daily notes and talking about the problems with someone to help you understand the concept.

Welcome to Alexander II Magnet School

  • Greetings from Bertha Caldwell, Principal

On Behalf of the Alexander II Math and Science Magnet School community, it is my pleasure to extend a warm and heartfelt welcome to you as we begin the 2015-2016 school year. To the students and families who are new to Alex II, we extend an especially warm welcome and wishes for an exciting and productive year in your new school. We hope that you will quickly feel at home and become involved in the many volunteer opportunities that we have available. At Alexander II we believe parent involvement increases student success.
As I begin my second year as principal at Alex II, I will continue to work diligently with parents and faculty to foster an atmosphere that promotes a learning community characterized by student  centered instruction and decisions, academic excellence, trust, respect, community involvement, excellent communication, and recognition of both student and staff achievement. I am committed to working in collaboration with you to continue to develop and implement our district and school mission: Each student demonstrates strength of character and is college or career ready. Working together as a team we will move forward in this mission. At Alexander II we have so much to be proud of as a staff, family, and community. I am looking forward to an exciting year, promoting a culture of excellence at our school.
