Greetings Parents and Stakeholders:
I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you all to the 2013-2014 school year! I am thrilled to begin my fourth year as principal of Howard Middle School! We continue to celebrate the accomplishments of our students, in both academics and athletics. We experienced growth in our overall student population as measured by CRCT results. Our students made substantial gains in Social Studies. We continue to see progress in our Math scores, and our ELA/Reading scores continue to be well above 90%. I assure you that we are not complacent with the aforementioned progress of our students. Collectively, there remains much for us to accomplish.
Although we said goodbye to some incredible educators who either retired or resigned to relocate or raise their children, we have been fortunate to welcome some incredibly gifted educators to our Howard Middle School family. We are continuing to implement some specific initiatives to ensure that ALL of the students at Howard are being intellectually challenged and exposed to the highest level of instructional rigor possible. This will be year two using a rotating schedule. Teachers identified this scheduling change as one of the major factors in increasing student achievement. All of our students will be required to carry AVID notebooks to help with organizational skills, along with using Cornell Note taking strategies.
Opportunities for you to be a vital part of the educational experiences of our students abound now more than ever! We welcome ALL stakeholders to join our team.
Thank you for allowing me to serve as your child’s principal. Please let me know if I can assist in any way to make your child’s experiences here more meaningful and worthwhile.
