Counseling Programs
Classroom Guidance. Classroom Guidance is a whole group setting that allows the counselor the opportunity to build relationships by spending time with every student at King-Danforth. In addition, the counselor teaches lessons on how to get along with others and how to make good decisions through character education lessons. Students get to know the counselor better, and when problems arise, they feel comfortable in sharing their concerns.
Individual Counseling. Individual Counseling is offered to students who are not comfortable with sharing their problems in front of other students, or if they feel that they (or the counselor) should be discreet in the information that they are sharing. All information shared with the counselor is kept confidential unless the counselor feels that the child"s or someone else"s life may be in danger. If danger is suspected, the information is reported immediately to the next official in charged.
Small Group Services Offered. The Counseling Department offers a variety of small groups and counseling programs for students. Each group program is voluntary. The groups meet once or twice monthly during the school day. Students are responsible for make-up work, and we expect for them to continue to excel and also improve socially and academically.
