Required Materials:   

No student is required to dress out, but students can if they would like.  If they dress out, they must be appropriate size, length, and school colors.  Neither short shorts nor tank tops are allowed. Only burgundy, white, gray, silver, black, and gold shorts are allowed.  The P.E. department is not responsible for lost or stolen items. Students should not bring pencils, paper, etc, to class unless told so by the coach.

Course Objectives:

Physical Fitness:  Students will engage in activities that reach their target heart rate for at least 20 minutes.  Students will participate in fitness assessments to improve skill performance and physical fitness.  They will use these assessments to develop appropriate personal goals.  The students will develop strategy for improving selected fitness components (Cardiovascular endurance, flexibility, muscular strength and endurance)

Movement Competencies:  Students will identify principles of practice and conditioning to enhance performance in sports, lifetime activities, and track and field.  Students will identify basic skills and safety procedures for outdoor activities.  Students will demonstrate increasing competencies in more advance specialized skills (sports and lifetime activities).  Identifies and applied movement concepts appropriate for specialized skills in a variety of settings.

Self- Management:  Student will identify the purpose for and participates in the establishment of safe practices, procedures, and etiquette for a variety of activities and settings.

Class Absences: It is the responsibility of the student to notify the P.E. teacher as to why they are going to be absent, or to let the P.E. teacher know why they were absent on the first day of return.  

 

 

 

 

Grading Scale:

Participation: 60%

Pacer Test: 40%

-Students will run the pacer test once a week.  This is a fitness conditioning test that will help strengthen the students’ cardiovascular endurance.  It is designed to provide each student with endurance.  It will help students know their current level of fitness.
