Division I- Student Development

Purpose- Promote personal and group activities that improve life skills

 

I-1 Leadership- activities that help the individual develop technical, human relations and decision making leadership to enhance personal success

 

Goal: Chapter sends representatives to State FFA Convention

1. Chapter sends two delegates and other FFA members to the State FFA Convention

 

Goal: Chapter sends representatives to National FFA Convention

1. Chapter sends two delegates and other FFA members to the National FFA Convention

 

Goal: Chapter provides members with the experience in Parliamentary Procedure

1. Advisor teaches a unit on Parliamentary Procedure

2. Parliamentary Procedure is used at all meetings

 

Goal: Chapter sends representative to the Area III FFA Rally

1. Chapter sends two delegates and other award recipients to the Area III FFA Rally

 

I-2 Health and Recreation- activities that promote the well being and self-esteem of the student either mentally or physically

 

Goal: Chapter provides recreational activities to all FFA members

1. Members attend Summer Leadership Camp (SLC)

 

I-3 Supervised Agricultural Experience Program (SAE) - activities that promote student involvement and growth through agriculturally related experience and/or entrepreneurship

 

Goal: Chapter has candidates for advanced FFA Degrees

1. Chapter encourages all who qualify to apply for Chapter, State, and American FFA Degrees

 

Goal: Chapter encourages members to submit Proficiency Award Applications

1. All members complete and submit a local and/or state Proficiency Award Application

 

Goal: All members maintain a Record Book

1. Each member is given a Record Book each year

 

I-4 Scholarship- activities that develop an attitude for life long learning experiences

 

Goal: The chapter will encourage student visitation to local colleges

1. Promote visits to local colleges

 

I-5 Agricultural Careers- activities that develop agricultural occupation and career skills through a progressive learning environment

 

Goal:  Chapter enters judging contest above the local level

1. Chapter enters the following contest:

a.         FFA Quiz Contest

b.        FFA Creed Speaking Contest

c.         Public Speaking

d.        Floriculture Contest

e.        Nursery Landscape Contest

f.          Floral Design Contest

 

 

Division II- Chapter Development

Purpose- Encourage students to work together

 

II-1 Recruitment- activities conducted to increase the agricultural education enrollment and/or FFA membership and encourage greater participation

 

Goal: Conduct an orientation program for upcoming freshmen

1. Have chapter members/officers speak to 8th grade classes

2. Provide school counselors with materials about the FFA

Goal: Identify and recruit upcoming freshmen for prospective membership

 

1. A prospective membership list will be prepared from 8th grade orientation

 

2. Prospective members and/or parents are contacted by FFA members and/or advisor

 

II-2 Finances- activities conducted to encourage and improve thrift among its members and financial standing through earnings, savings, and investments

 

Goal: FFA dues are collected from all Agricultural students

1. Advisor and/or treasure collect the dues

2. Dues are sent to state office at a designated time

3. Chapter secretary distributes membership cards

 

Goal: Chapter conducts two fund raising activities

1. Officers select fund raising activities

2. Chapter has activities approved by administration

3. The activities are scheduled

4. The products are distributed

5. Money is collected and deposited

 

Goal: Members are informed of chapter financial standing

1. Treasurer delivers oral and written report at each meeting

 

II-3 Public Relations- activities conducted to promote a positive image and inform student, parents, school officials, and the community of chapter and member accomplishments

 

Goal: Chapter sponsors Parent-Member Banquet

1. Chapter invites parent and friends to Annual Awards Banquet

 

Goal: Chapter promotes and observes National FFA Week during the week of George Washington’s Birthday

1. Have principal, superintendent, and mayor proclaim FFA week

2. Purchase kit of FFA week material from the FFA supply service

3. Sponsor faculty, chapter, community, and student activities

 

Goal: Chapter uses media for public relations

1. Chapter reporter submits feature articles to local newspaper

 

Goal: Chapter reporter maintains chapter scrapbook

1. Reporter maintains clippings and adds to scrapbook as needed

 

Goal: Chapter participates in Georgia National Fair

1. Chapter prepares Large Chapter Booth to coincide with theme

 

Goal: Chapter develops member T-shirts

1. Secure a design for the T-shirt

2. Carry design to printer

3. Order t-shirts

4. Distribute t-shirts to members

 

II-4 Cooperation- leadership activities conducted to develop teamwork and cooperative skills chapter officer, committees, and members

 

Goal: Chapter trains each officer for his/her office

1. Chapter officers attend Local/Region/State leadership training meetings

 

Goal: Chapter uses official FFA material

1. Secretary and treasure uses official record books

 

Goal: Chapter establishes a code of conduct for it officers

1. All officers must maintain a C average

2. All officers must maintain school eligibility during their year of service

3. All officers will know their ceremony parts from memory

 

Goal: At least 2 chapter meetings will be held every month

1. The meeting schedule is developed

2. Official paraphernalia and official ceremonies are used at all meetings

 

 

II-5 Alumni- support group activities conducted to develop and maintain positive relations between the FFA, parents, community leaders, and industry

 

Goal: Chapter encourages graduates to retain their membership

1. Graduating members are invited to attend local activities

2. Graduating members are asked to help with local events

 

Goal: Chapter conducts activity inform active members of Alumni membership opportunities

1. Have Alumni Officer/Member to speak at chapter meeting

 

Goal: Chapter conducts activity to re-involve former FFA members

1. Secure and maintain a roll of former FFA members in the community

2. Former members are invited to social and recreational activities

 

Goal: Chapter utilizes Alumni in preparing members for competitive activities

1. Involve Alumni in preparing teams and individuals

 

Division III- Community Development

Purpose- Cooperate with other groups to make the community a better place to live and work

 

III-1 Natural Resources- environmental activities conducted to preserve natural resources and develop more environmentally responsible individuals

 

III-2 Human Resources- activities conducted to improve the well-being of members and citizens of the community

 

III-3 Citizenship- activities conducted to promote and encourage members to become active, involved citizens of their school, community, and country

 

Goal: One chapter meeting or weekend is devoted to community service

1 Officers, committee members, and advisor plan meeting

2. Program Chairman finalizes plan for meeting

3. A meeting is conducted

4. The meeting identifies a project

5. Plan of action devised

6. Plan carried through to completion

 

III-4 Agricultural Awareness- activities conducted to help create an awareness and to help the public become better informed of the food system and related agricultural issues
