The school district offers a comprehensive athletic program throughout the school year for middle school students (grades 6-8) and high school students (grades 9-12). The athletic program teaches attitudes of responsible team play and cooperation. Participation in athletics the is entirely voluntary and is extended to all academically eligible students who are willing to assume the responsibilities congruent with the privilege.
The six high schools in the district with athletic programs are members of the Georgia High School Association (GHSA). The GHSA governs all aspects of high school sports including eligibility, participation, and competition for member schools.
